Get Involved We need your help
The Word Guild needs your help to make our new model work for holding writing events all across Canada. Can you get involved?
1. Attend one or both workshops if we will be visiting your area.
2. Encourage others to attend. Bring others with you, or pass the information along to people you know in the areas where workshops are being held.
3. Help us with promotion (especially if you live in the area where a workshop is scheduled). Tell us about community newspapers, coming events listings, local radio programs, etc.; put a link from your website or blog to our website; put an announcement in your church bulletin; download a poster to pin up at your church or local library; etc.
4. Consider helping us hold a workshop in your church or other facility. If your church, organization or local writers’ group would like to participate, please let us know and we’ll try to work out a tour in your area.
We currently are looking for bookings in the GTA in early November and in other parts of Ontario and Western Canada in the spring 2009.
5. Become a tour sponsor.
a) We’re looking for other national or regional organizations who might want to sponsor one or both workshops. Contact us for more information about promotional benefits.
b) If you know of an organization or individual who might make a great sponsor or partner for this, please let them know.
6. Donate gifts for prizes.
We need books or other items from Canadian publishers, authors and businesses to give away for draws and door prizes at each event. Email us and we’ll give you the details about promotional benefits.
7. Volunteer to be part of the organizing or promotion teams, or make suggestions as to how we can make this work. We’re taking a risk and trying something new, but we believe this model could be successful on a national scale.
