NEW MODEL FOR WRITE! EVENTS INTRODUCED

The Word Guild launches national tour of writing and creativity workshops

Can't make it to The Word Guild's flagship three-day national conference, Write! Canada, each June in Guelph, Ont.? The Word Guild is coming to a city near you!

The Word Guild is partnering with That’s Life! Communications and World Vision to create an innovative model to produce workshops across Canada, targeted at fostering writers, aspiring writers and other Christians who want to cultivate their creative potential.

The project will launch in the fall of 2008 with a 10-day tour through four provinces in Eastern Canada, featuring two workshops taught by N. J. Lindquist. She is a motivational speaker, writing teacher, editor, columnist, author, publisher, and co-founder of The Word Guild (TWG), a national association of more than 350 Canadian writers and editors who are Christian. Lindquist is known as an encourager who empowers others.

In addition to Write! Canada, its flagship Christian writers’ conference held each June in Guelph, Ont., The Word Guild has sponsored regional Write! events in Victoria, B.C.; Montreal; Winnipeg; Saskatoon; London and Haliburton, Ont.; Toronto; Sackville and Moncton, N.B.

“We want to reach out to writers and aspiring writers who are Christian in all parts of Canada, helping them to develop their skills and connect with other writers,” explained Denise Rumble, TWG’s Managing Director. “We’re excited about the potential of working with World Vision and other partners to build up the Christian writing community right across Canada.”

Release the Creative You is a 2 ˝ hour evening workshop for teens and adults who want to unleash their creativity, who have a dream they’re afraid might never come true, and who long to set their imagination free. The session will challenge, inspire, motivate and offer tools for attendees to find the courage to trust God and become the person He created them to be.

Recycle Your Personal Experiences is an all-day session for writers and aspiring writers, running from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., that will help attendees identify which of their stories would be the best to begin writing; teach them a variety of ways to use their ideas in both fiction and non-fiction; and offer tools to help with marketing.

No writing experience is required to attend either workshop.

The Word Guild hopes to visit many parts of Canada with this package, through working with local volunteers, churches and sponsors.  Writing workshops will be booked for consecutive Saturdays, while the general audience creativity workshops will be booked for intervening weeknights or on Sunday afternoons or evenings.
