Haiti Response

We have challenged our members to use their talents to write about the devastation in Haiti and Canadian Christian's response to it in their blogs, in newspapers and magazines, and whatever other media they normally write for. Links to what they write will be posted on a new "Members" site we have recently created.  Other information on our members (publications, readings, awards, etc.) will also be posted on this new site.

TWG announces Canada's largest literary prize for writers who are Christian

A new $5,000 award has been established to honour the late author Grace Irwin. It will celebrate the best book published in 2009 by a Canadian author who writes from a Christian worldview. The Grace Irwin Award is Canada’s largest literary prize for writers who are Christian.

All shortlisted finalists in fiction and nonfiction book categories in The Word Guild Canadian Christian Writing Awards will contend for the Grace Irwin Award. A separate round of independent judging will determine the inaugural prizewinner, who will be announced on June 16, 2010 at a black-tie Awards Gala.  Download news release here.

TWG announces exciting new contest category: blogs

To provide recognition to the many Canadian writers who are Christian who are posting their words online, The Word Guild has added a new category to its contest for published work. The Word Guild 2010 Writing Awards now offer a category for blogs (personal journals that are meant for public consumption).

The new award operates similarly to the existing article category “Column/editorial/first person essay—series.” To enter the “Blog Post—series” category, submit printed copies of two commentaries on any topic that were posted consecutively online between January 1 and December 31, 2009. The maximum word count for the series of two entries is 2,000 words. This category is open to any genre of writing.

For more information, download the news release or see the Contest Page.
