The Word Guild 2008 Writing Awards Gala

Come join us! The Word Guild's third annual Writing Awards Gala will be held on Wednesday June 11, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at World Vision Canada, 1 World Drive, Mississauga, Ont.

The premier national event honouring Canadian writers who are Christian will present awards for outstanding career achievement, and for the best nonfiction books, novels, articles, columns, poems and song lyrics published in 2007.

Are you an avid reader or aspiring writer? Come meet real live Canadian Christian writers (yes, we exist!) Find out who published the best novels, non-fiction books, magazine articles, poems and scripts in 2007. Get dressed up. Applaud the winners.

Laugh with emcee Herbie Kuhn, popular speaker and in-house announcer for the Toronto Raptors.

The Gala will be followed by a catered reception. This is a black-tie event, so we are requesting tuxedos or dark suits with ties for men, formal or semi-formal wear for women. Hobnob with writers at the post-Gala reception.

Copies of shortlisted books will be on sale at The Word Guild's book table in the lobby before and after the Gala. The theatre will open at 7:00 p.m. for audience seating. Gala volunteers and awards presenters: please arrive by 6:45 p.m. for a brief orientation meeting inside the theatre.
