The 20th Annual Leslie K. Tarr Award

Sponsor: Tyndale University College and Seminary

Recognizes an outstanding career contribution to Christian writing and publishing in Canada.

Winner: Connie Brummel Crook of Peterborough, Ont., for her nine young adult novels and three children’s picture books that portray Canadian history and are widely used in public school classrooms and libraries.

The Partnership Award

Sponsor: The Word Guild

Recognizes an organization or individual who has shown exceptional support and encouragement to Canadian writers and editors who are Christian.

Winner: The charitable arts organization Imago, for its invaluable assistance in helping The Word Guild to get established during its first six years, from 2002 through 2007. The award was accepted by Imago’s executive director, John Franklin.

Best New Canadian Christian Author Award

Sponsor: Castle Quay Books Canada

Recognizes the most promising fiction or nonfiction manuscript about Christian faith. The winning author will be awarded a $1,000 prize or a $1,000 advance against royalties should Castle Quay Books Canada decide to publish the work.

Winner: Kevin Dautremont, MD, of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan for the fiction manuscript The Golden Conquest.

 

The Word Guild Canadian Christian Writing Awards

The following writers received awards for the best writing published in 2007. Award of Merit recipients received marks very close to those of the winning entries. There were 38 Winners in 31 categories – 17 in articles, 21 in books.
There were 22 Awards of Merit – 8 in articles, 14 in books.
